As Chief Pilot of Uganda Airlines, Capt. Michael Etiang supervises pilots, coordinates with scheduling and maintenance departments on allocation of crew. Solomon Oleny spoke to him about his perspective on why CR900 Aircrafts are his favourite planes following his 20+ years of experience in Aviation.
Which is your favourite plane?
I have a soft spot for the CRJs having flown them for over 10 years, accumulating over 5,000 flying hours.
What exactly do you like about them?
They are designed not only to facilitate travel, but immerse travellers in a charming flight experience. They are fast aircrafts that will get passengers to their destinations on time. Their large windows enable one take in beautiful sights of the earth without straining the eyes. These aircraft have an excellent safety record, they are a great choice for an airline in its infant stages because their costs of operation and maintenance are very economic. The huge plus is that they are better for the environment. Their engines are highly efficient with reduced noise and emission levels proven by their popular use in the developed parts of the world from the US to Europe, Asia and the far East with well-established airlines.
